The Restoration — three years, six cabins, and a fireplace we kept

When the property came up in 2021, the buildings had been sitting for five years. The original six cabins from 1948 were structurally sound but tired, and the lodge's stone chimney was stained from seventy-six years of woodsmoke. We could have painted it. We didn't — we cleaned it by hand, kept every mark, and built the Hearth House around it. The fireplace you sit beside at check-in has warmed this valley since before Idaho paved its first road.
